I’d spent the day researching the horizons of Normanton for a classic Aussie shot. As the day’s last rays cast their colors, I saw this windmill in the distance. I was immediately drawn to its strong shadow cast onto the salt flats. I set up my tripod and shot various compositions of this captivating silhouette. A warm afternoon breeze shook the blades of the windmill; a truly magical Outback sound. This is one of my favorite pieces; the lighting was perfect and it made for a magic ending to the day.
